Energy Security Fitness Check – EUGINE Contribution

EUGINE has contributed to the Commission consultation launching a fitness check of the EU energy security architecture.
Growing electricity consumption coupled with increasingly weather-dependent generation and a context of increasing extreme weather events will make energy security ever more central. In our reply we point out that, in the years to come, the European energy security framework needs to shift towards managing this growing complexity.
In providing both essential system services and seasonal balancing, gas power generation can and will play an important part.
